One of the Civil Service departments were out on the streets protesting for a salary increase. This guy, one of the shop stewards, was keeping an eye on proceedings. I found myself in the middle of all this and starting taking a few photos. This shop steward approached me to tell me that I had no permission to take photos and I had to stop. It took some time to explain that seeing the protest was on public property they had no expectancy of privacy and I was well within my rights. We resolved the matter amicably and I walked away photos and all.
